The Center for Innovative GYN Care (CIGC) is a progressive, minimally invasive GYN surgical practice expanding into the New York and New Jersey area that requires the services of an experienced Pre-Op/PACU Nurse in Secaucus, NJ. CIGC has redefined the meaning of minimally invasive GYN surgery, providing some of the most advanced procedures for women in 46 states and 30 countries. CIGC developed innovative and revolutionary GYN techniques to simplify even the most complicated surgical procedures. We care for each patient as a true individual, and through a detailed and personalized approach, our staff have our patients back on their feet as swiftly as possible.

The PREOP/PACU Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The RN will provide pre-op care to patients before surgical procedures and in the immediate postoperative/post anesthesia period, assessing and documenting patient’s status. The nurse provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered, monitoring patient and informing surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications. The RN will assure that the patient is prepared for discharge by providing the necessary education to the patient and the responsible caregiver.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure patient readiness for surgery including, but not limited to, NPO status, medication administration, surgical site verification and chart completeness.
  • Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the pre and postoperative areas.
  • Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of anesthetic drugs, actions and side effects of medications administered in the PACU.
  • Performs thorough postoperative patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient
  • Develops a plan of care for the patient based on the assessment data.
  • Reviews postoperative instructions and prescriptions from the surgeon with patient and responsible caregiver and documents in the patient’s medical record.
  • Assists with maintaining established organizational policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
  • Works collaboratively with team to assist in room turnover.

 

Requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN License in the State of NJ or ability to obtain one
  • BLS/ACLS certification
  • 3 – 5 years Pre and Post-operative experience
  • GYN experience preferred

CIGC has redefined the meaning of minimally invasive GYN surgery, providing some of the most advanced procedures for women in 46 states and 30 countries. CIGC developed innovative and revolutionary GYN techniques to simplify even the most complicated surgical procedures. We care for each patient as a true individual, and through a detailed and personalized approach, our staff have our patients back on their feet as swiftly as possible.

The Operating Room RN provides nursing care to patients in compliance with, but not limited to, Standards of Practice as defined by ANA, AORN, ASPAN and State Practice Act Standards, and organization protocols, policies, procedures, and guidelines. The OR Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing patient care in a single operating room in an ASC setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement plan of care safely and effectively and provides safe environment, including, but not limited to:1) positioning patient safely, padding bony prominences and ensuring respiratory and circulatory protection. 2) Ensuring correct prepping and draping procedures. 3) Conducting “time out” process prior to incision to ensure correct patient, correct procedures and correct surgical site. 4) Ensure asepsis during all procedures. Opens and presents sterile items to sterile field aseptically; ensures supplies are not expired. 5) Accounting for all sponges, needles, sharps, during and after the procedures and documenting appropriately.
  • Explains intra-operative phase of routine procedures and care to the patient.
  • Anticipates needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia.
  • Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly.
  • Assists with maintaining established organizational policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
  • Works collaboratively with team to assist in room turnover.

 

Requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN License in the State of NJ or ability to obtain one
  • BLS/ACLS certified
  • 3 – 5 years OR experience
  • Preference may be given for GYN experience
